Las Aguilas del Tamiami start the season with a right foot and for the first time in team history the team is over .500 after beating La Vinotinto 4-2. Kyle Roberts pitched for 8 2/3 innings dominating the whole game the power hitters from La Vinotinto, but after allowing the only two runs in the ninth Coach Cabrera turned to Michael Vazquez who strikes out the hitter to finish the game and earned the save.
The game was a pitching duel during the first 7 innings. From Vinotinto Miguel Ortiz threw 8 innings and was charged with the lost after giving up 4 earned runs. Kyle Roberts dominated the entire game, just one player reached third base before the 9th inning. Offensively Cesar Echaverry got on base 3 times with 2 hits and a base on balls same as Luis Ramos who got 1 hit and two walks. Also Pedro Lugo, Angel Mestre and Luis Ramos had 1 RBI each. The team in general showed an excellent defense who plaid the entire game without an error, Echaverry was phenomenal doing unbelievable plays at shortstop.
Last but not least the league handed the trophies from the past season where Aguilas Alex Gonzalez and Xavier Gomez received one trophy each. Gomez was honored as the League Leader in triples. For Gonzalez is not his first or second but his 3rd straight Stolen Base title. Also Cesar Ramirez was awarded as the MVP, Ramirez played for Chinandega last season and will be playing with Las Aguilas as soon as he gets the opportunity.

I Dont Believe What I Just Saw! Oh My WOW
Las Aguilas del Tamiami came from behind and won their 4th straight game with a walk off single by Cesar Echaverry. Something unbelievable happened last Sunday in Field 4 at Tamiami Complex where Las Aguilas won their 4th straight game in a way none one could imagine. Nine innings were not enough for this two teams who came to this game unbeatable in their last 3 games. The game lasted 12 innings (4:43 min). Kyle Roberts started the afternoon for Las Aguilas against Habana who sent former Ace of Miami Dade College Michael Martinez. Roberts went 7.0 innings allowing 6 runs (3 ER) including a solo shot by former AA player Raciel Seijo. Angel Cortes threw 4 2/3 innings in relief and Ernesto Borbon got the win (1) after getting the last out in the top 12th.
Las Aguilas were looking to get the win to get closer to La Vinotinto who owns the last spot to qualify for the playoffs, meanwhile in Field 3 Vinotinto faced the Angels. Knowing the importance of this game this is how it went for Las Aguilas. The first innings of the game were dominated by Habana who jump to an early start getting 3 runs unearned (3-0HBN). In the bottom of the six Las Aguilas scored their first run (3-1 HBN). In the top seven Habana answered with 3 more runs (6-1 HBN). After that Las Aguilas immediately scored another run to put the game (6-2 HBN). Angel Cortes threw the 8th in relief retiring Habana's hitters 1,2,3. With 6 outs away of losing the game Las Aguilas scored a run with a double of Gilbert Garcia then Fabian Hance launched a enormous home run over the right field fence (6-5 HBN). Cortes came back to the mound and closed the ninth inning without problem. In the bottom part Tony Cash got on base by an error of third baseman allowing Cash go to second and later scoring with the help of Alex Gonzalez tying the game with two outs (6-6 TIED) By this time Vinotinto had lost (5-2) meaning that a victory for Las Aguilas could put the team just 1 game behind. Deinnys Suarez (AAA Cubs) and Ariel Beltran (AAA Orioles) pitched during the extra frame for Habana while Cortes was dominating. After 3 innings with no actions and more controversial calls against Las Aguilas. in the top 12 Habana took advantage of Cortes fatigue and scored 3 runs out of him. Ernesto Borbon came to get the last out for Las Aguilas leaving the game (9-6 HBN). In the bottom 12 Suarez kept his dominances striking out Hance and Renzo Rodriguez. With two outs Coach Cabrera send to pinch hit Luis Ramos for Cash Ramos hit a line drive to center field for a single, following this Pablo Abreu pinch hit for Angel Mestre, Pablo hit a triple bringing Ramos home and putting the game (9-7 HBN). Ruben Paredes pinch hit for Adelso Boya, Paredes got to first because of a catcher interference. Paredes stole second putting the tying run in scoring position. After a wild pitch of Suarez, Abreu scored and Paredes moved to third, Alex Gonzales manage to get a BB after being behind 0-2 in the count. Cesar Echaverry came to hit and Suarez was substituted by Raciel Seijo. At the first pitch Gonzales took off and stole 2nd base putting then the tying run at 3rd and winning run at 2nd. After a extremely high strike called and the count in 0-2 Echaverry hit a line over the SS bringing both runs home and giving the win to Las Aguilas (10-9 AGL).
Putting themselves only 1 game behind La Vinotinto, the team is ready to face them this Sunday. Two of the next three games are against La Vinotinto. If Las Aguilas managed to win both games that will mean that Las Aguilas will advance to the playoffs.
Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh BOYA, 3rd Straight!!!
The team has won 3 straight games and they are not done yet. With La Vinotinto wining against Caribes, Las Aguilas are still 2.0 games behind Vinotinto with a hand full of games left. Las Aguilas (6-9) have 2 of their last 5 games against La Vinotinto (8-8) were everything could be defined.
Kyle Roberts is Schedule to start Sunday's game against Habana who are fighting for the best record in the league just one game behind Almendares. Coach Cabrera after the game said, "nothing will be easy, the next five games will be tough, but we like that, we don't want anything easy, all of our wins have been earned and we feel comfortable about ourselves, the boys are doing their job and it doesn't get any exciting than this".
Game 17 will be at 2:30 PM Field 8. Do not miss it.

Aguilas Aplastan a Caribes
Estrenando nuevo uniforme Las Aguilas del Tamiami dieron knockout a Caribes con un marcador de 15-0. Los bates Aguiluchos despertaron en el ultimo encuentro de la temporada regular entre estos dos conjuntos. Fabian Hance capitalizo la ofensiva con un triple, un doble y un sencillo. Xavier Gomez aporto dos triples y Adelso Boya en su primer partido luego de su operacion conecto un doble y un triple. Las Aguilas no dejaron de batear desde el inicio del partido hasta su temprano final en el 7mo. Por el monticulo aguilucho estuvo abriendo el derecho Kyle Roberts quien lanzo 5 entradas permitiendo solo dos imparables. Kyle con estas 5 entradas en blanco redujo su efectividad a 2.30 colocandose entre las mejores 10 de la liga. La 6ta entrada fue lanzada por Angel Cortes quien se integro al monticulo el pasado domingo. Cortes ha participado en las 3 temporadas de las Aguilas. Por otro lado tambien se espera este domingo la integracion de un lanzador nudillista derecho para reforzar el bullpen para el resto de temporada que queda.
Luego de las integraciones de Juan Berrios y Gilberto Garcia la ofensiva aguilucha ha aumentado cada partido.
Este domingo Las Aguilas buscan su 4ta Victoria frente a un Almendares quienes llegan con una sola derrota en toda la temporada. El primer partido entre estos dos equipos termino con marcador de 10-3 a favor de Almendares (llamado entonces Matagalpa).

El domingo pasado, 25 de mayo 2014, en los campos del complejo deportivo Tamiami, se inauguró el XLV Campeonato de la Liga Miami Dade, mejor conocida por tu trayectoria de 27 años consecutivas de labor, como Liga Nica.
Con 14 equipos, se realizaron 7 juegos. Hubo un acto de entrega de trofeos y placas a los jugadores mas destacados en diferentes disciplias del beisbol,asi como tambien el codiciado trofeo para el mejor equipo, el Campeon y el Sub Campeon de la temporada anterior.
Iniciando la entrega de trofeos, el Presidente de la Liga, Lester Aviles, de camisa azul, organiza con los invitados especiales que le acompañan el acto. Tania Gonzalez, Roger Mejia Blandino, el Medico Higinio Fuentes y de espalda el periodista dominicano Mario de Jesus.
Uno de los mas destacados protagonista del acto fué el MVP de la Liga, quien aparece recibiendo el primero de los 5 trofeos que ganó. Don Tito Rondon le enrega el MVP.
Roger Mejia Blandino entrega trofeo al mas "ladron" de bases Alex Gonzalez.
El Jefe de la Pagina de Deportes de El Nuevo Herald, Jorge Ebro, have entrega del trofeo de MVP del Play Off a Alain Soler, del Habana. Soler es un ex Grandes Llgas, pertenecio al staff de lanzadores por 2 años a los Mets de N.Y. y con el team Habana ganó el juego decisivo del Campeonato y tambien defendió la tercera base con gran solvencia y constribuyó con el bate secundando a Adalberto Ibarra.
Daniel Chaffardet recibe trofeo de Tania Gonzalez-Teran como el pitcher que dio mas ponches en la temporada.
Judith Flores, de La Prensa de Nicaagua y Diario Las Americas, entrega Placa de reconocimiento a Henry Stevens como el Manager mas destacado del Campeonato pasado.
Algunos miembros del Team Habana, reciben el trofeo de Campeon de manos de las damas Tania Gonzalez-Teran y Judith Flores.

Listos y en Sus Puestos de Arranque
Carlos Mena,director de la Liga Miami Dade, mejor identificada como Liga Nica, informó que ya están listos catorce equipos para arrancar el XLV Campeonato de esta organización, además de estar asignados en el marco de las divisiones que sirven al sistema utilizado por esta Liga.
La fecha acordada es el 25 de mayo de este año y en la invariable sede del complejo deporivo del Tamiami Park.
Se formaron tres Divisiones, Este, Central y Oeste, que encabezaron con el equipo Campeón de la temporada pasada, Habana, bajo el mando de Alfredo Avila, el tradicional Boer, manejado por Silvio Silva, y Chinandega, éste último conjunto integrado por los mismo peloteros del torneo pasado que usaron el nombre de Rivas y que seguirá siendo batuteado por Henry Stevens.
Completan la Division Este, además del Habana, La Vinotinto de Ricardo Rasquides; Matagalpa de Marlon Gutierrez y Luis Mesa; Caribes de Joenys Suarez; y Las Aguilas de Julio Cabrera.
El Boer es acompañado por Matanzas de Norberto Alonso, Puerto Rico de Edwin Robinson y Lukes Team de Efrain Landa director debutante.
El Chinandega comparte la division con el tradicional Rivas con la reaparición del coach Manuel Baltodano; Los Angeles de Eduardo Peña; Los Bravos del Callao con 8 debutantes jugadores reclutados por el jugador insignia de la Liga, Marco Teran y que será dirigido por el experimentado chalaco Luis Elguera; y finalmente el temible Leon de Ulises Luna.
Los juegos comenzarán a las diez de la mañana del domingo 25 de mayo con una programación de 3 partidos simultáneos y a las dos de la tarde 4 juegos al mismo tiempo.
Habrá un acto de premiación en el que se entregaran oficialmente los trofeos al Habana como equipo Campeon y al subcampeón Artemisa, el trofeo de MVP de la temporada a Yuri Lopetegui, ganador tambien de trofeos como Campeon Bate, líder de empujadas, de mas hits y colider de dobles compartido con Reynaldo Almanza.
Roberto Olivera y Roberto Collazo empataron el liderato de triples, ambos se llevaron trofeos, Jorge Rodriguez por mas carreras anotadas y Alex Gonzalez por lograr el liderato de bases robadas.
Los trofeos de mejor pitcher por efectividad y de mejor balance de ganados y perdidos los ganó Jorge de la Torre; y Daniel Chaffardet ganó el de mas ponches.
En la series de finalistas, el ex bigleaguer Alain Soler se acreditó el trofeo de MVP y Adalberto Ibarra el mas destacado. Alfredo Avila como Manager Campeon y finalmente Henry Steven ganó placa de reconocimiento como manager mas destacado del campeonato y Julio Cabrera otra placa como Dirigente Ejemplar.
Otro Robo Para Alex Gonzalez
El campo central y co-capitan de Las Aguilas Alex Gonzalez lidero nuevamente la liga en bases robadas este ano con un total de 16, superando asi su propio record de 12 que habia obtenido en su primer ano con Las Aguilas. Gonzalez supero al veloz Michael Jordan (15) quien estuvo cabeza a cabeza compitiendo con el las ultimas semanas. Llegando al ultimo partido de la temporada ambos estaban empatados con 15 robos. Ambos jugaron a la misma hora en diferentes parques. Gonzalez a pesar de estar enfermo jugo el partido completo y a la altura de 7mo episodio Gonzalez hizo su unico intento de robo en el partido y el cual le dio la ventaja sobre Jordan 16 a 15.
Este ultimo partido no pudo ser mas dramatico no solo para Gonzalez sino para el mismo equipo de Las Aguilas quien tuvo 3 veces liderando en el partido, pero al final cayo 14-10, a pesar de la mejor ofensiva del equipo en todo el ano, en la cual Xavier Gomez conecto su segundo cuadrangular de la temporada quedando asi empatado con varios mas en el liderazgo de cuadrangulares (2).
Este trofeo de Gonzalez no es sorpresa para nadie, Las Aguilas se ha dado a conocer en la liga por ser un equipo de pelota pequena y muy agil en las bases. Las Aguilas terminaron en segundo lugar en robos con 39 solo por debajo de Los Angeles. Este es el segundo ano consecutivo que Las Aguilas terminan entre los mejores 4 en bases robadas. Tambien en sus primeras dos temporadas han robado un total de 80 bases siendo este el segundo mejor solo por debajo de los Angeles (99). Julio Cabrera, dirigente aguilucho, es conocido por el juego agresivo en las bases, ese estilo latino de jugar beisbol y el cual le ha servido muy bien a sus jugadores.
Esta claro que los aguiluchos vuelan por las bases, pero esto sera suficiente para este ano? ya lo veremos.
